Joselyn Castorena
I have worked with several therapists as an office administrator in Alameda for over 3 years. Along with my admin experience, I earned my BA in Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health from Southern New Hampshire University in 2023.
My work experience, education, and personal mental health journey has provided me with a well-rounded understanding in the importance of mental health & my role as an administrator. Yes, I take care of the paperwork, but I also show up with empathy in my role every day, to be an additional pillar of support to help the therapy process run smoothly so that you, the clinician, can focus on your clients.
What does an administrative assistant do?

Scheduling & Intake
Scheduling and intake are two processes that are integral to the beginning of someone’s therapy journey.
I understand how daunting and nerve wracking it is to reach out to a therapist; with my experience I have come to learn that kind, empathetic and timely responses help to subside some of the apprehensions someone may have about the process.

Insurance & Private Billing
It is no secret that working with insurance providers can be frustrating for both clinicians and clients. However, it is an option people are reaching towards more often for financial support, and therapists in an effort to support more people seeking therapy.
I have years of experience assisting clients with insurance headaches, and working with several insurance providers with both out-of-network and in-network billing, as well as private billing.
